AIA Continuing Education

Course Summary

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) and Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) wall systems provide the ability to capture complex facade skins and high-performance designs. This course will explain the manufacturing process, system capabilites, and design flexibility in order to allow architects, engineers, and consultants to maximize the capabilites of GFRC & UHPC to meet design, performance, and budget objectives.

Course Summary

Recladding and overcladding existing buildings allows for performance and aesthetic improvements but these projects face challenges with weight, attachment, tolerances, and movement. Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) can address these challenges and provide features not offered with most masonry wall systems. In this course you will learn about the GFRC manufacturing process, barrier and pressure equalized cladding designs with GFRC, air, vapor, and thermal performance features in a GFRC wall, anchorage and attachment methods, and GFRC curtain wall systems.
